Join Chris Fisher, the Blind Woodturner. Hear how he lost his sight and went on to become the UK’s first professional blind woodturner.
Chris Fisher woke up one morning in 2008 to blurred vision. Four weeks later he was completely blind.
He will be sharing the story of how he came to terms with his sight loss, the challenges he faced and how a drive in a car with a charity called Speed of Sight was a turning point.
Because he wanted a vampire stake, Chris decided to take up woodturning and, after listening to YouTube videos for 600 hours, he bought his first lathe and started turning.
Five years later Chris is now in demand as a speaker and woodturning demonstrator, travelling throughout the UK. He has been featured several times by the BBC.
His mission is to inspire and motivate people, and show both disabled and able bodied people what it is possible to achieve with determination and self-belief.
Come along and hear Chris’ inspirational story for yourself.
